Playing successful online poker these days is harder than it has ever been. Players are constantly improving their games, so a great player is now just an average player. Critical to success nowadays is bankroll management. With the game being much harder, our risk of ruin is much higher than it would have been a few years back. Thanks to a brand new poker bankroll tracker, we can now manage our bankrolls, analyze our games, and be prepared for the dreaded downswings at the tables.
ev++ Poker Tools is a brand new product that just entered its public beta testing phase and is currently free to use. Features such as a Hand Converter, Variance Simulator, Equity Calculator, Risk of Ruin Calculator, and Bankroll Calculator are all available online. This new tool allows us to take a detailed look at just how brutal the game can be so that we are properly bankrolled and mentally prepared at the tables. Let’s take a detailed look at each section of the product.
One of the first tools you will notice on the site is the Hand Converter. This will allow you to copy and paste hand histories and convert them into a forum-friendly format. If your preferred forum isn’t supported, you can use the plain text or HTML options. The converter currently supports Full Tilt Poker, PartyPoker, PokerStars, and the CEREUS Network.
Next up is the Variance Simulator. This is the tool that will show you just how swingy the game can be over a given number of hands and trials. To get an even more accurate plot, you can list your standard deviation found in your PokerTracker 3 or Holdem Manager databases. You will also have a URL assigned to your graph in case you need to post it or e-mail it to your friends. Here’s a sneak peek:
Perhaps the most valuable tools on the site for players are the Risk of Ruin Calculator and Bankroll Calculator. To calculate your risk of ruin, or the risk of you going broke at the stakes you play, simply enter your current bankroll, BB/100 rate, and standard deviation. You will then automatically see your risk of ruin percentage displayed. This will immediately give you an idea if you are properly rolled for the stakes you play. Again, the statistics you load can be found from your PokerTracker 3 or Holdem Manager databases, or you can use the default settings. Take a look:
There are also a couple of other tools on the site you can use, such as a simple Equity Calculator, a UB.com data mining tool, and an Auto Hide UB BBJ Ticker tool. The Equity Calculator operates with a simple interface, so entering information quickly shouldn’t be a problem. The other tools for UB.com are simple scripts that will help you with data mining and hiding the blackjack ticker, which will free up some resources on your computer.
ev++ is a nice looking site that offers some great tools. One of the most important things about poker is to manage yourself so that you can stay in the game and not go broke. If you haven’t seen the numbers on yourself, then go run them; you might be surprised as what you find out. If you have any questions or comments, make a post in the AHK Forum and we’ll be there to help.
