As consumer demand for Apple computers and products increases, more and more of the general poker public are Mac users. The converse is also true; as Apple produces better and faster computers, poker players are adopting this platform as their own. Years ago, the problem for many poker players who were on Macs was that there was no native software to their operating system. In recent years, Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars released Mac-compatible software to the joy of all Apple users. In recent months, online poker sites such as Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet have followed suit. All was good in the world of Apple-powered online poker playing.
Then, a new problem arose, as many online poker regulars didn’t have any shortcut scripts or tracking programs to assist them with their efforts at the tables. This stumbling block led to many regular poker players either sticking with a Windows PC platform or installing a program like Parallels that would run Windows in a virtual environment.
However, a funny thing happened a year ago, when a lone Apple software developer decided to create his own hand history tracking utility in his spare time. The result was Poker Copilot, the first ever commercial hand history tracking utility that came armed with a fully functional Heads-Up Display (HUD). The first edition of Poker Copilot was well received and in time evolved into a solid piece of software that received positive reviews.
A few months ago, a major update was released and dubbed Poker Copilot 2. The software comes with a free 30-day trial and can be purchased for the reasonable price of $59.99. Once installed, it supports play on both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. The software allows players to hit up cash game tables or tournaments and keep full stats while displaying real-time stats on players seated at the table.
Poker Copilot 2 allows a user to configure which stats they want in their HUD. Some of the stats that are included with the program include Voluntarily Put Money in the Pot (VPIP), Pre-Flop Raise (PFR), Aggression %, Aggression Factor (AF), Blind Steal Attempt % (BSA), 3bet, Fold to 3bet, and more. The HUD places the stats for each player directly on the table and each stat is updated after every hand.
The list of alterations in a latest release of Poker Copilot include:
- Community cards for the previous hand are shown for a few seconds with the mucked cards
- Table stats are now shown: VPIP, Pre-Flop Raise, and Aggression
- The order in the position summary has changed
- The Mucked Cards Window now stays hidden between Poker Copilot sessions
- When you select extra columns to show in the Hands summary, Players summary, Stake Level summary, and Position summary, they stay shown between Poker Copilot sessions
- Advanced Dashboard for tournaments shows In the Money %
- A fix for calculating the rake for Ongame Network uncalled bets
- Better handling of PokerStars tournament summaries for freerolls
- Performance and stability improvements
A note in the development blog stated that PowerPC Macs and Poker Copilot 2.19 aren’t getting along and that these specific users should downgrade back to version 2.17. For all other users, the regular update of 2.19 should work fine.
