Holdem Manager is a hand history tracking utility featuring applications that go beyond simple stats and results reporting. The latest application to be released from within the “HM APPS” section of the program is dubbed Holdem Vision Pro. This new add-on is $69.99 and is a graphical reporting and analysis tool for Holdem Manager. It turns your Holdem Manager data into information you can use to increase profits and exploit your opponents. The application comes with a free 15-day trial and can be found in the latest edition of the software (Version 1.10.02).
Holdem Vision mines information from hand histories in your database and presents a series of visualizations giving you insight into play against a particular player profile or individual. Holdem Vision Pro builds on the capabilities built into Holdem Manager, adding more reports and tools. Some of the features of Holdem Vision Pro include:
- Player profiles based on auto rate rules
- Estimate equity versus weighted pre-flop ranges
- See how pre-flop ranges connect with different boards
- Calculate equity versus post-flop ranges
- Explore continuation bet hand ranges and fold equity
- Filter hands based on detailed board texture conditions
- See hand strength details for post-flop ranges
- Explore post-flop lines
Alex Lynch, the developer of Holdem Vision Pro, discussed his new product and how it might benefit poker players: “Hold’em Vision starts with a premise that we process visual information more effectively than we do tables of data. A lot of poker software throws out a few token graphs that look pretty, but there really isn’t anything actionable derived from them. For those who are willing to invest a little bit of time analyzing their game… they will realize that the entire product is built on the premise of allowing customers to visually identify actionable opportunities that can improve their game.”
Lynch said that he originally came up with the concept in early 2009 and spent several hundred hours working on it individually. He launched an early version of the program on his own website, which the folks at Holdem Manager came across. In October 2009, they approached Lynch about incorporating the basic functionality into Holdem Manager and Omaha Manager. Simultaneously, he told them his ideas for a more advanced set of tools for Holdem Vision. With a shared vision about a “Pro” edition, they quickly formed a partnership.
Holdem Vision is found within the “HM APPS” section of the latest builds of Holdem Manager. There are seven different categories of applications, some of which are free to use without purchasing the Pro edition of the software: Game Statistics, Player Statistics, Player Profiles, Pre-Flop Ranges, Post-Flop Ranges, Flop C-Bet Ranges, and Line Explorer.
The Game Statistics section will allow you to get data on hands you have in your database regarding the games you play. The filters for this section include stakes, poker site, number of players, and date range. Once you’ve selected these, Holdem Vision will run a query, which could take a few minutes depending on the size of your database and speed of your computer. The data returned will show you charts about pot sizes, number of players seeing the flop, maximum streets reached, winning hands at showdown, losing hands at showdown, and winnings by position. This report is free to use for all registered users of Holdem Manager.
Currently, Holdem Vision has a bevy of free features available to all registered Holdem Manager and Omaha Manager users. More in-depth features such as the Flop C-Bet Ranges and Line Explorer are exclusive to the Pro Edition, which is available with a 15-day trial or one-time payment of $69.99. A new section of the forums at Holdem Manager’s website have opened up entitled “Hold’em Vision” and can be found under the “Apps” section. Here, all questions, comments, and troubleshooting issues regarding Hold’em Vision are answered by community members and “VisionSupport,” who acts as official liaison on behalf of the forums.
