PokerHub.org Launches Tournament Parser

In today’s game, backing is extremely commonplace. Players on both ends of the spectrum seem to have figured out what works and what doesn’t. On the other hand, with backing deals come bookkeeping and stat tracking, practices that most stakers and stakees have yet to perfect. Whether it's due to laziness, difficulty, or bad communication, the fact is that many horses are terrible at keeping stats.

Enter PokerHub.org’s newly released Tournament Parser, a program that makes it easier for players to keep their stats, which in turn alleviates the worries of the backer. The Windows-based application uses the “Request Tournament History” and “Request Playing History Audit” from PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker’s “Check Tournament History” feature to collect sit and go (SNG) and multi-table tournament (MTT) data.

The software then parses all of the retrieved hand histories and outputs the results in an easy to read format. Among the stats are starting bankroll, tournaments played, buy-ins, profit, and ending bankroll. Tournament Parser can also automatically detect users’ first and last hands of every tournament so they can pass them along to their backers.

Additional features of Tournament Parser include rebuy/add-on and KO tournament information, the ability to generate customizable reports, and automatic posting to the PartTimePoker forums.

To set up Tournament Parser, simply visit PokerHub.org and run the installer. Once installed, you'll have to configure the program as follows:

For PokerStars:

PokerStars Username: Your PokerStars screen name
PokerStars Hand History Folder: The folder where PokerStars stores your hand histories. This is where the program searches for first and last hands.

For Full Tilt Poker:

Full Tilt Poker Username: Your Full Tilt Poker screen name.
Full Tilt Poker Hand History Folder: The folder where Full Tilt Poker stores your hand histories.

Finally, you'll need to configure a few general settings for PokerHub.org:

PokerHub.org Username: Enter your PokerHub.org username.
PokerHub.org Password: Enter your PokerHub.org password.

Once the program is set up, the process of using it can be completed in four easy steps:

1. Retrieve hand histories from PokerStars using the “Request Tournament History Audit.” Generally, requesting a round number like 50 or 100 tournaments at a time is preferred.

2. Retrieve hand histories from Full Tilt Poker by using the “Request Hand History” feature. The online “Check Tournament History” page can also be used to parse individual tournaments.

3. Copy/paste all retrieved hand histories.

4. Parse hand histories and view/post results.

It really is that easy and, with the introduction of Tournament Parser, horses and backers no longer have an excuse for unorganized records. For every Joe Cada/JohnnyBax story, you hear about four or five backing deals that went south for one reason or another. There's no reason for failure with programs like this out there.

Tournament Parser is still in its beta stage and only available for PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. Presently, the program is free, but could wind up being for-purchase in the near future. The developers are currently working on expanding the software to sites like Cake Poker and UB.com. Visit PokerHub.org for more details.
