We’ve given a lot of love to iPhone and Android phone users in past articles about awesome poker apps. Now, it’s finally to give some love to folks who own a BlackBerry! The Pocket Casino Guide (currently in Version 1.2) is available for free for OS 4.6 or OS 4.7 users. The app can be downloaded (OTA Only) with a modest file size of 208 KB. Users can download the program by going to the app’s web page and having your phone look up the relative link.
The Pocket Casino Guide will help you find the perfect casino, card room, or racetrack no matter where you are. Once again, the good news here is that this application is completely free to download and use. The program utilizes your phone’s GPS feature and can search your area or you can look up casinos by country, state, city, and zip code. After you have found casinos in your area, you can refine your search by filtering through 50 different items.
Data for the United States and Canada is available and will automatically be loaded into your device. On older devices, this might cause some temporary sluggishness, but as soon as the data is uploaded, your device will return back to its normal speed.
Features include a search for all casinos, card rooms, and racetracks in your current location. You can refine your filtering by looking up table games such as baccarat, blackjack, craps, Caribbean Stud, and more. Poker players can look through Hold’em, Omaha/8, Pot Limit Omaha, and other games. You can even search for events like poker tournaments, slot tournaments, and video poker tournaments.
The Pocket Casino Guide can also find places with sports books, hotels, spas, good dining options, and even nightclubs. You can use Google Maps or BlackBerry Maps to view casino locations and get directions if you find a location to where you want to go. You can view the official website for a casino, read comments written by visitors, and add your own thoughts.
For OS 4.5 and 4.6 devices, the minimum display dimensions are 240x260, 240x320, and 320x240. For OS version 4.7 devices, it supports display dimensions of 240x260, 240x330, 320x240, 360x400, 360x480, 480x320, and 480x360.
The maker of the application is PokerLifeLine, which has made another app for BlackBerry, Poker Life Line Lite. It’s a free application that offers poker tracking and is designed for those who want to keep tabs on their wins and losses. The full version costs $4.99 to download.
For either BlackBerry program, you can search through a compatibility finder on the website to ensure that your device will support the application. In a thread on the TwoPlusTwo forums, a company representative posted that they released an iPhone edition of the program as well, which can be downloaded from the App Store.
