Recently on the TwoPlusTwo forms, “MasterLJ” posted that he decided to create a table opener for PokerStars cash game tables. The holistic idea of the program is for a user to be able to 24-table and not have to worry about basic table management or opening a program and having it steal focus away.
On the release day of the “Alpha” edition of the MTT tool on September 3rd, a feature list was posted. First, users can sort by any lobby variable they want, such as stakes, limit, players, waitlist, average pot, VPIP, and hands per hour. Users can also sort by game type, buy-in, ante tables, fast tables, and empty tables.
The program is promised to work extremely fast, as its developer reported to get the information from every single PokerStars table in approximately 25 seconds. “MasterLJ” stated that the program works best if you have your games sorted in the Ring Game filter within the PokerStars lobby. In addition, each table opens in about one second, meaning that a 24-tabling grinder should be up and running in less than 30 seconds under most conditions. Finally, there is automatic scanning of the lobby for new tables and you can enter a total for how many tables you want open at one time.
At the time, he also posted pending features he hoped to roll out within a week or two. The first of these was a “Rathole Timer,” which allows any table that you closed to be assumed to be on the rat hole timer and therefore ineligible for re-open. Another feature is called “Play-Nice with Table Ninja,” which makes sure the program doesn’t conflict with the popular piece of poker software. The last pending feature is called “Auto-Seat & Buy-In,” which will be for people that do not use Table Ninja. This feature automatically seats you and buys in for you.
On September 15th, “MasterLJ” posted an update on the progress of the upcoming “Beta” edition, which will include a GUI overhaul. The Rathole Timer was said to be in full effect, as were the table queue and the waitlist view. He stated that he was 90% done implementing critical features at that point. Three days later, he released a YouTube tutorial video.
Unfortunately for people looking to enjoy the program, “MasterLJ” posted on September 30th that the project would be put on the backburner despite the high amount of interest it was getting. He stated that he had other projects going on simultaneously and had to ration his time as best he could. He added that he would be willing to sell copies of the software, but it would come at a high cost. In addition, if other developers were looking to use this code in a project, he would be willing to talk.
Despite the setback, the PokerStars Cash Game Table Opener seems like a worthwhile piece of software for hardcore multi-tablers.
