If you haven’t stopped by Tournament Poker Edge in a while, then you’ve been missing out on some amazing content from its talented instructors. Tournament Poker Edge continues to pump out poker training videos aimed at taking your game to the next level. Its collection of new video formats, live sweat sessions, and hand history review videos offer a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best and most successful players in the game of poker.
The newest member of the Tournament Poker Edge team is Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah, who has a poker resume that includes more than $1 million in earnings from live and online games. Leah is coming off five cashes at this year’s WSOP and has logged wins in the Borgata $500,000 Deep Stack Main Event in 2009 and a tournament during the Deep Stack Extravaganza in Las Vegas later that year. He also has a runner-up showing at the WPT’s L.A. Poker Classic.
Leah provides a video on live mid-stakes grinding; the first video of the four-part series is up on the site for viewers already.
Another new video comes from “Hagbard Celine,” who provides a three-part series that takes viewers through hands he played at this year’s WSOP. The hands are from a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event and include several of the trouble spots he got into.
The video chronicles some of the strategy that needs to be used in order to navigate the $1,000 WSOP events, which are a riddled with a large number of unknowns taking their first, and sometimes only, shot at WSOP glory. The series highlights the best course of action in order to play these events profitably.
The next new series features Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek, along with Tournament Poker Edge founders and contributors “RonFezBuddy” and Derek “Killingbird” Tenbusch, in a two-parter evaluating and analyzing poker on television. ESPN has begun airing live coverage of the WSOP Main Event for the past few weeks and televises compelling hands in an edited format.
“Killingbird” and “RonFezBuddy” interview “bigdogpckt5s” about basic strategy questions to break down the hands and learn what you can take away from watching these events on television. The video not only focuses on the WSOP, but also on several WPT broadcasts and other live events. Two videos from this series are already live on the site.
In another entertaining series, Jonathan “Wein” Wein and Shaun “Cougars4444” Hendrickson team up to review a session from “RonFezBuddy” in a six-part series from his play on Black Friday. The live sweat is entitled “Sticking it to the Man” and focuses on the good moves and poor decisions made. It also provides expert commentary on several critical decisions and relays sound reasoning for taking the most cost-effective lines.
Not only is the video fun to watch, but it also provides a fantastic lesson on effective ways to review a session and suggests what to look for in order to improve your game.
Several other videos have been released in recent weeks, including a live sweat with “bigdogpckt5s” during the early stages of Sunday Majors. Any tournament grinder knows that Sundays mean the biggest fields and the richest prize pools, and Jarzabek is an expert at navigating them. The four-part video series chronicles how to attack the early stages of Sunday Majors and focuses on proper tournament play, ABC poker, and which starting hands have the most value.
