This week, PokerTracker released a new beta of PokerTracker 3 that addressed a PokerStars Memory Grabber bug and rolled out several other small fixes. The software’s developers are in the midst of fine-tuning PokerTracker 4, but still managed to make mincemeat of the bug and even found time to add play money support to PokerTracker 3. Let’s take a look at what’s included in the latest update.

PokerTracker’s Steven McLoughlin, who has kept PokerSoftware in the loop throughout the PokerTracker 4 testing process, told us, “The Memory Grabber bug occurred after PokerStars rolled out a change to their hand history formats a few days ago. We fixed the hand history format issue in advance on December 22nd, but we did not expect a similar issue to occur with the Memory Grabber tool. As soon as we discovered the problem, we went to work on a fix. 48 hours later, the beta was released to solve any related problems our users may have had. All PokerTracker users who play on PokerStars should upgrade to this version immediately.”

The PokerTracker team received an e-mail from PokerStars warning of the change to the hand history format. This correspondence read in part, “The word ‘Game’ will be changed to ‘Hand’ in all hand histories.” However, the change also adversely affected the Memory Grabber tool, which is why PokerTracker users should download the newest beta version as soon as possible.

Speaking about PokerStars, McLoughlin told PokerSoftware, “PokerStars is a great company to work with. We treasure our relationship with them and they always attempt to notify us when radical changes take place in advance to ensure our users experience a clean transition.”

Thanks to PokerTracker’s 48-hour turnaround time, players are now competing on PokerStars with all of the latest stats and information as usual.

The latest beta also included a litany of updates, including addressing summary import problems with names containing parenthesis on PokerStars. Other import issues addressed included a fix for Five-Card Omaha hands on the Entraction Network and a problem with corrupt hand history files on the Merge Gaming Network.

Cake Poker names starting with a question mark are now handled correctly thanks to PokerTracker’s most recent update, as is detection of eight-seat tournaments and nine-max tables. On the iPoker Network, syntax issues, problems with the Italian network, and time zone difficulties were all addressed. On the latter point, PokerTracker switched to GMT for all iPoker Network skins.

On PartyPoker, a problem when the winner had a space in their name was fixed and on Everest, issues with sites that use Euros as their currency were also corrected. Other more generic PokerTracker fixes in the latest update included the following:

Import: Button detection for sites that don't specify button position
Export: Support encoding for .fr and .it sites
EV: Fix with unknown dead hole cards
HUD: Groups with note icon and missing stats showing
