Many online players are looking for ways to improve their games via poker training sites. This is an excellent way to improve your game by watching how experienced professionals beat online poker games year after year and keep up with the times.
Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond has recently launched a new site, RunItOnce.com. Most of you are aware that Galfond has been a successful poker player, working his way up from small stakes to the biggest games available. He was previously at Bluefire Poker and left the group to run his own site. Besides playing nosebleed cash games online, Galfond won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2008 in a $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy and has been on many episodes of "High Stakes Poker."
In addition to Galfond, Run it Once has an impressive stable of 15 other trainers. It has a healthy mix of cash game players and online players, so regardless of the form of online poker you choose to play, there is content available to you.
Their online tournament trainers are highlighted by:
· Steve “gboro780” Gross, who at one time was ranked #1 overall on PocketFives and has over $6 million in online tournament cashes.
· James “Andy McLEOD” Obst, an Australian pro who was once ranked #4 worldwide on PocketFives.
· Bryan “theczar19” Piccioli, another former #1 PocketFives ranked player with over $5 million in online tournament cashes.
· David “betudontbet” Emmons re-engineered his game from cash games to online poker tournaments and was ranked #2 on PocketFives in May 2012 with over $3 million in online tournament cashes.
· Grayson “gray31” Ramage has over $3 million in online cashes and won Full Tilt Poker’s $216 No Limit Hold’em FTOPS Event #26 for over $65,000 last week.
Run it Once's online pros include lower stakes players and also the some of the best at nosebleed stakes as well. For those of you who rail higher stakes games, you will have no problem recognizing some of the professional trainers, including Di “Urindanger” Dang, Hac “trex313” Dang, and, of course, Galfond himself.
It is free to sign up for access to the Run it Once forum. However, you will not have access to the videos unless you are a paying member. You are free to post for purposes of receiving feedback whether you are a paid member or not. The site also plans to have a video recorder where you can record your own videos for purposes of receiving feedback from other members.
There are two plans for watching videos. The Essential plan is very affordable at $9.99 per month and includes one video per month from Galfond and access to Essential pros including Jono “GAWA9” Crute and Paul “Senterpied” Senter. The Elite plan is priced higher than other training sites at $99.99 per month, which includes all videos by Galfond and full access to the Essential and Elite pros.
In a discussion thread on Two Plus Two, there were many people complaining about the high cost for the full plan, pointing out that most other sites are comparably priced at around $30. Others were pointing out the plethora of top-notch poker pros on Run it Once and said while it might not be priced affordably for everyone, it was fairly priced.
There were also comments that if you can’t afford the $99.99 Elite Plan, you should consider opting for the very affordable $9.99 plan. Another poster wanted to know if you could substitute another Elite pro in the $9.99 plan instead of Galfond since he had dozens of Galfond’s videos downloaded from his time at Bluefire Poker. This might also be a reason that unlike its competitors, Run it Once does not allow you to download videos.
All in all, it appears people are exciting that Galfond is back making training videos and has also assembled a very impressive group of poker professionals to launch his site.
