HM Cloud Now in Beta

It has been almost a full year since Holdem Manager released HM Cloud Alpha.  Now, the software is in Beta.  HM Cloud Beta is free to everyone, even those who do not have an HM2 license.

The beauty of HM Cloud Beta is that all of your data is stored in a virtual cloud.  There's no local database required to use HM Cloud Beta and all computations are done in the cloud without using your hard drive and processing capacities.  This, along with the simple out-of-the-box configuration, is why the people behind HM Cloud refer to it as "Simply Powerful Poker Software."

Getting started with HM Cloud could not be easier. You can use your Facebook login or the e-mail address and password of your free HoldemManager.com account.

Once logged in, you will see that a sample database with a "sample hero" has already been set up.  After using the sample database to explore, you can drag and drop existing hand history files into the "Import" tile on the "Home" view. HM Cloud beta customers can upload up to 100,000 archived hero hands.  It is simple to use the reporting tools to see just about anything you want in the "Analysis" and "Opponents" tabs.

There is a small program to install if you are going to use the HM Cloud HUD, but you will be amazed to find that, no mater how many tables you play at a time, it uses less CPU and RAM than most of the poker room software you already run.

The functions of the small program that you download are to overlay updated opponent stats sent down from HM Cloud and send new hand history files during your session to HM Cloud. There are no calculations performed on your computer.

You can choose from several pre-configured HM Cloud HUDs and pre-configured popup notes or you can import your custom configured HM2 HUDs and popup layouts.

Holdem Manager's Jim Varnon told PokerSoftware, "We consider HM Cloud to be a companion application to HM2 and not a replacement.  HM2 allows for a high degree of customization in several areas and has thousands of stats.  But, HM Cloud already has several hundred stats and we continue to add more."

Varnon went on to tell us, "The only major category of filters in HM2 that you won't find in HM Cloud are 'board texture' and 'bet sizing.'"

HM Cloud Beta currently supports NLH and PLO cash games on rooms like PokerStars, Full Tilt, PartyPoker, iPoker, Pacific/888.  Support for tournaments and sit and gos will be added in an HM Cloud update some time after it emerges from Beta.

We asked Varnon whether poker sites allow use of HM Cloud Beta and he advised us, "Yes, because HM Cloud is not a public database. It is your private database that is hosted on HM Cloud. Hands can only be shared individually via a web link for viewing and replaying a specific hand. Databases cannot be exported and HM Cloud stored hands cannot be shared in bulk."

Another amazing benefit of HM Cloud Beta is that you can view all reports and view and replay hands from any tablet device. A future version of HM Cloud will enable hand review and replay from your smartphone.

We are not the only ones impressed with HM Cloud Beta.  Holdem Manager representatives told us, "The feedback from customer surveys has been very positive.  Almost 66% of HM Cloud Beta users responding to a survey indicated that they will use the platform more than 75% of the time and 9 out of 10 customers had a positive impression after using it for the first time."

A Mac version of the software is currently being tested in Alpha mode.  If you are interested in becoming an HM Cloud Native Mac HUD Alpha tester, please contact pmorny@holdemmanger.com.  Also of note is that NoteCaddy will be released for HM Cloud Beta in the coming weeks.
