Poker Software Revealed with CrazyB15
We caught
CrazyB15 on
PokerStars between poker sessions and he graciously took time out of his day to let us know all about the poker-related software he uses during and after play. CrazyB15 has almost $500,000 in tournament cashes on PokerStars alone and just took third place in a SCOOP event for almost $34,000.
PokerSoftware: What poker software do you use while playing?
CrazyB15: For many years, I used
Holdem Manager 1. However, I now use
PokerTracker 4.
PokerSoftware: Why did you switch from Holdem Manager 1 to PokerTracker 4?
CrazyB15: I was happy with
Holdem Manager 1. However,
Holdem Manager stopped offering support for HM1, at which point I spoke with a few poker players about their thoughts on the two programs and came to the decision to purchase PT4 instead of HM2.
PokerSoftware: How important is your HUD when playing poker?
CrazyB15: My HUD is generally pretty important to my game, especially when I am mass-tabling and need to reference information I would not have caught while playing more than a few tables.
PokerSoftware: What tools are you using for post-game analysis?
CrazyB15: I use a combination of
Flopzilla,
Holdem Resources, and
ICMizer for post-game study tools. Many years ago, I used
SNG Wizard. However, I find these three programs provide what I need for post-game studies.
PokerSoftware: Tell us how and when you use Flopzilla.
CrazyB15: I use it to look at spots with tons of random board textures to see how wide I could c-bet, double barrel, triple barrel, raise c-bet, etc. based on how wide I think certain opponents are in spots.
PokerSoftware: How are you using Holdem Resources and ICMizer? How are they different than Flopzilla?
CrazyB15: Holdem Resources and ICMizer are used a lot more to check plus chip EV and ICM spots based on opponents' opening ranges and calling ranges, mostly in shorter stack play. Both are similar types of programs. However, I feel the functionality is better on Holdem Resources than ICMizer.
While ICMizer and Holdem Resources do have some similarities, I still like to use both of them to cross-reference each other in certain spots. However,
Flopzilla is not like either program. Eventually, I will probably get into using the
CardRunners EV Calculator, especially if I start playing cash games on a more regular basis.
PokerSoftware: Have you played any
mobile poker?
CrazyB15: I haven't played mobile poker since Black Friday. I haven't even bothered looking into playing on a cell phone since then, especially since I play multiple tables when I grind. Mobile poker is good if you are playing just a table or two for fun or if your internet goes down, but in general nothing beats playing on the computer.
