What it Takes to Keep Holdem Manager 2 Ticking

We recently sat down with Holdem Manager's Brent Clearman to get the inside scoop on HM2.  Read on to learn what it takes to run this popular tracking software along with some of the new features and upgrades.

PokerSoftware:  How much time and effort goes into a typical new Holdem Manager 2 release?  Can you take us through the general process?

Holdem Manager:  New features are prioritized and scheduled for a future milestone release.  Once the programming team adds features, HM2 is sent to the internal testing team, where they perform over 600 test cases to make sure everything is in order.

After the internal testing team signs off on new features, we release the build as a beta release.  If all goes well, we make the build official 24 hours after it has been released as a beta release and then start the process all over again for the next milestone.

PokerSoftware:  Tell us about some of the best new features and/or updates in the newest version of Holdem Manager.

Holdem Manager:  The latest version of HM2 adds HM Cloud hand syncing with HM2. Now, you don't have to worry if hands will be imported into one program or the other.  HM Cloud hand syncing with HM2 is all done automatically now, although if you use multiple databases in HM2, you may be required to manually import hands to the other databases.

The previous release of HM2 added updates to the Hand History Viewer.  We condensed information and made it easier to follow the action in the hand.  HM Cloud has a new popup feature where you can hover over the popup icon and view multiple popups.

PokerSoftware:  We understand that HM1 is no longer being supported to allow your company to focus on HM2.  Can you give us a sneak peek of what is being worked on?

Holdem Manager: The HM2 team has been working on an updated replayer that should see release in the coming months.  We also have some new stats and filters that customers have requested that will be added soon along with a new tournament report.

PokerSoftware:  What was involved in developing Leak Buster 4, which is now in the HM App Store?  How much time did it take?

Holdem Manager:  Leak Buster is developed by Ace Poker Solutions and here's what they had to say: "Leak Buster 4 took about 10 months to develop. The GUI was overhauled and we added a dual analysis approach that connects a lot more leaks together to give more precise listing of leak importance.  There are a lot of things under the hood that have been added that users don't see, but took a lot of time to program."

PokerSoftware:  How has the feedback been from users of Leak Buster?  Which new features do they like the best?

Holdem Manager via Ace Poker Solutions: "Very positive.  The new features and functions have been getting great feedback.  We got a lot of personal e-mails into support about Leak Buster that you don't normally get in software development.  We get a lot of very positive and genuine appreciation and feedback."

The most feedback we've heard is about the hand analysis tab, which gives you the ability to grab leak hands, review them, and run them through the equity calculator fast.  People seem to like that new feature the best so far.

PokerSoftware:  Are any of the other HM apps being upgraded?  If so, which ones and what should we expect to see?

Holdem Manager:  TableNinja II is currently going through the testing process of an amazing new feature called NinjaVision, which puts relevant hand information from all of your tables into a single window.  This allows you to see an overview of all the current action on all tables and allows you to use TableNinja II hotkeys on the NinjaVision window.  No words can do this justice.  When you see NinjaVision in action, it's simply amazing.
