What's in Your HUD with Ahurazor

We went to the "Land Down Under" to discuss poker software with Australia's Ahurazor.  He is currently a cash game specialist, but knows a thing or two about tournaments with over $500,000 in online tournament results according to PocketFives.

PokerSoftware:  What poker software are you currently using?

Ahurazor:  I am currently using Holdem Manager 2.

PokerSoftware:  What do you like best about Holdem Manager 2?

Ahurazor:  The biggest thing for me is being able to review my own sessions easily and keep track of how I am doing or research where I might be leaking money.

PokerSoftware:  How is your HUD currently set up?

Ahurazor:  My HUD is nothing fancy and contains many of the usual stats including VPIP %, PFR%, Fold to c-bet %, Fold to 3-bet %, Fold to 4-bet %, 3-bet %, 4-bet %, Fold to Turn %, and Steal %.

PokerSoftware:  It seems to be popular to keep fewer stats in your HUD and rely more on pop-ups for difficult decisions.  When do you use pop-ups in your HUD?

Ahurazor:  As you can imagine, I use pop-ups to check up on my opponents' tendencies that I might not have directly set up in my HUD.  A few great examples of this are Donk Bet %, Check-Raise %, and Fold to Check-Raise %. I try not to put too much HUD information on my table, as it can sometimes be distracting or cover stack sizes, so I only put what I feel are the most important stats into it.

PokerSoftware:  What are your thoughts on Holdem Manager's auto-note taking tool, NoteCaddy?

Ahurazor:  Instead of relying on auto-note taking software, I am a big note-taker myself and take many of my own notes.  I do use HM2 as part of my note-taking since I go back and review old sessions in HM2 and put some of my own notes about regs in my HUD.  So, that part of it is really good.

PokerSoftware:  How important is your HUD to your game?

Ahurazor:  It is extremely important.  I currently specialize in cash games and most of my volume is at Zoom Poker on PokerStars.  I can't remember every player's tendencies or what they have done.  To be honest, I feel completely naked playing Zoom without a reliable HUD and would refuse to do it nowadays.

PokerSoftware:  Do you think poker sites should consider banning HUDs?  Are they bad for the game?

Ahurazor:  I don't think so.  HUD software is available to anyone; it is just a matter of how you use it.  However, I could definitely understand how some poker players might not be fans of it.
